Course Overview
This qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of community settings and clients’ homes, who provide training and support in a manner that empowers people with disabilities to achieve greater levels of independence, self-reliance, community participation and wellbeing. Workers promote a person-centred approach, work without direct supervision and may be required to supervise and/or coordinate a small team.
Entry Requirements and Enrolment Process
As per the Training Package learners must have completed following qualification to undertake CHC43121 Certificate IV in Disability Support:
- Completion of: CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) OR
- Completion of: CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) OR
- Completion of: CHC30408 Certificate III in Disability PLUS the CHCSS00125 Entry to Certificate IV in Disability Support Skill Set.
Furthermore, Chandler RTO requires learners to meet following entry requirements to undertake this course at Chandler RTO.
Learners must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Participate in a course entry interview (Pre-Training Review) to determine suitability for the course and learner needs.
- Have sufficient language, literacy, and numeracy skills, for example, to read materials relevant to the course, participate in discussions and observations and apply numerical concepts such as in relation to time management. This will be tested through an LLN assessment as part of the course entry process. Learners will need to achieve at least ACSF level 3 for reading, writing, numeracy, and oral communication to enter the course.
- Be able to obtain a Police Report and Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Be able to undertake work placement provided at an Aged Care Facility/Disability facility for a minimum of 80 hours.
- Have access to an operating computer, laptop, tablet or smart phone to access online Learning Management Systems (LMS) and to complete assignments on time.

Course Structure
This course has 10 units of competency, consisting of 7core units and 3 elective units. To attain this qualification, student must have completed at least 120 hours of work as detailed in the assessment requirements of the units of competency.

Course Duration
This qualification will be delivered over 28 weeks to 52 weeks. A mandatory work placement of at least 80 hours to be completed. Students course duration will vary depending upon their pre-existing knowledge, prior skills and experiences.
Delivery Method
This course will be delivered using a blended methodology. The delivery strategy used in this methodology is a combination of onsite learning and online modules supported by trainer contact, self-study, face to face (on-site and real-time online), simulation and practical at college premises. Majority of the training to be delivered will be divided between a classroom or workplace environment and an online environment.
Recognition Prior Learning (RPL)
All Applicants are entitled to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). All Applicants are informed of their opportunity to apply for both RPL prior to enrolling and are formally presented with the opportunity immediately after the enrolment process.
The procedure to be followed in applying for RPL are described in our RPL & National Recognition Procedure.
The granting of RPL may affect course fees, as well as the duration of the course (Please refer (RPL link in website)
Credit Transfer
Chandler RTO has an obligation to recognize Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by other registered training organizations.
All Applicants are entitled to apply for Credit Transfer (CT) if they meet the CT criteria. All Applicants are informed of their opportunity to apply for CT during the time of enrolment and are formally presented with the opportunity immediately after the enrolment process.

Course Outcome and Career Opportunities
The course once competent will leave you with career opportunities to provide Personal Care and can make one understand the entry-level requirements of an Aged Care Facility. It allows you to follow an individualized plan to provide person-centered support to people who may require support due to ageing or some other reason in relation to individual support as well as taking responsibility for their own outputs. After successful completion of the course, you can apply for opportunities such as:

Career Pathways
Students achieving this qualification may wish to continue their education into further study such as CHC43015 – Certificate IV in Ageing Support or CHC52021 – Diploma of Community Services. It can further lead to studying nursing for aspiring students who can meet the study requirements.
